THE ENGLISH EDITION

Editorial principles

Clear reporting, identifiable sources and respect for the people whose stories we tell.

This page explains the approach used for the English edition. The agency’s complete editorial and advertising policy is available in the Russian original linked below.

Selection for international readers

Priority goes to research, developments in diagnosis and treatment, access to medicines, patient experiences and international initiatives. Reporting on Russian policy explains the jurisdiction, institutions, dates and eligibility conditions. A local event is selected when it offers a wider lesson or a practical opportunity for international readers.

Evidence and medical language

Research coverage identifies the source, study stage, population and material limitations. A preprint, laboratory result or investigational therapy is not presented as established treatment. A regulatory decision is tied to its authority, date, indication and jurisdiction.

Rare diseases, genetic diseases and inherited diseases are not interchangeable terms. Gene therapy and genome editing are distinguished. Disease names, medicine names, abbreviations and institutional titles are checked against appropriate primary sources.

Translation and review

English publications retain the original meaning, attribution and uncertainty. Context may be added for international readers and is identified where necessary. Each item should pass language editing and factual checks; medically substantive passages require review by an appropriately qualified expert before release. Publication decisions remain with the editor-in-chief or an authorised editor.

Patients and privacy

Permission for a Russian-language interview or publication should not be assumed to cover an English edition, another platform or wider distribution. Consent, image rights and the handling of health information must be checked for the intended use. Only necessary personal information should be included.

Editorial independence and advertising

Funding, sponsorship and relevant interests are disclosed where needed to understand a publication. Payment or partnership does not determine the conclusions of independent editorial reporting. Advertising is assessed and labelled under the applicable rules.

Corrections

Substantive errors are corrected transparently. Where both languages are affected, both versions are checked and the correction is carried across.
