About Genome Inform

Information changes lives.

Genome Inform covers medicine, science and social policy in Russia. We focus on rare and inherited diseases, medical genetics, access to diagnosis and treatment, and the experiences of patients and their families.

What we do

We publish news, interviews, explanatory articles, video reports and patient stories. We bring together the perspectives of patients, clinicians, researchers, patient organisations and policymakers, and provide a space for informed discussion about healthcare.

Why an English edition

Rare disease communities face questions that cross national borders. Our English edition helps international readers understand developments in Russia and connects that reporting with wider research, policy and patient advocacy discussions. We explain local institutions and eligibility rules rather than assuming that readers already know the Russian healthcare system.

Our approach

We distinguish evidence from opinion, research findings from established clinical practice, and editorial reporting from advertising. Personal experiences are presented in context. Health information is intended to inform readers and support conversations with healthcare professionals.

Our history

The first Genome Inform publication appeared in March 2023. The agency was registered with Roskomnadzor on 10 March 2025 under registration number ИА № ФС77-89189. Its founder and editor-in-chief is Mikhail Volkov.
